Worcester Presents Key to the City to Bud’s Goods & Provisions Founder Amid Renewed Statewide Cannabis Debate
WORCESTER, MA — On Wednesday, February 11, at 3:30 p.m., Alex Mazin, Founder, CEO, and President of Bud’s Goods & Provisions, was presented with the Key to the City of Worcester at the company’s retail location on West Boylston Street. The recognition honored sustained contributions to workforce opportunity, small‑business development, and continued investment in the Worcester community. Mayor Joseph M. Petty, with Thrive Support & Advocacy and former Worcester City Councilor Sean Rose, and local partners attended the ceremony.
The recognition comes at a time when Massachusetts is engaged in renewed statewide discussion about the future of adult-use cannabis policy, including a proposed ballot question titled “An Act to Restore a Sensible Marijuana Policy.” As public debate continues, Wednesday’s ceremony highlighted the measurable impact that regulated cannabis operators can have within their communities, including job creation, tax revenue contributions, neighborhood investment, and collaboration with other local small businesses.
The Key to the City is traditionally reserved for individuals whose professional efforts demonstrate lasting civic impact. During a time of evolving regulatory dialogue and heightened public attention on the cannabis industry’s role in local economies, Wednesday’s event highlighted how Bud’s Goods & Provisions has become a fixture in Worcester not only as a retailer, but as a community partner committed to operating responsibly and transparently. Mazin’s leadership reflects a broader truth: locally owned cannabis businesses contribute positively to the cities and towns they call home.
The ceremony concluded with a reception and photographs alongside city officials and invited guests, marking the occasion as both a personal milestone for Mazin and a broader reflection of Worcester’s continued commitment to recognizing community‑focused leadership.
